Protect your gear, and keep yourself dry on trail with the Backcountry Porch. This simple groundsheet comes in two sizes and has many different uses. Use it as a place to sit when taking a break to stay dry from wet ground. Place it in the vestibule of your tent to place gear onto to keep clean from mud and sand. Place your gear on the porch when packing up your camp and stage your gear before packing your backpack. The uses are anything you can imagine.
The Backcountry Porch was originally created in 2018 as one of the few products first designed by Backcountry Exposure. It's been redesigned and simplified to save weight, but be more effective in its use.
The Backcountry Porch is simple, but has necessary features to make it great in varying conditions. It uses lightweight, yet durable 1.6oz HyperD Nylon fabric with a PU coating that is 4000mm of hydrostatic head. In other words, it will keep your gear and behind dry. Gros grain loops in the corners are added to make it possible to stake the porch to the ground. An UltraGrid color triangle is added to one corner for a pop of color, but to also be a simple small pocket.

A fun luxury item! Didn't think it would have made such a difference but it's so nice to carve out a little "porch" in the backcountry to sit and cook on. It even doubles as a dog "place" mat and gives my dog a place to settle at while she is waits. Worth every penny. Light enough to strap onto a tired dog's pack too.
I haven't had it long but so far I'm very pleased. Used it over the weekend and it was very nice not having to crawl out of my tent onto the wet ground. My friend who was hiking with me ordered one after seeing how useful it is .
It works.
I love these porches; I have both sizes. I use it to sit on, I use it to stand up on taking off my shoes to change clothes. I leave it right outside my tent door at night. I really find them useful!
Once you you try it, you will wonder why you just put your stuff down in the the dirt. Also to have a spot in your vestibule to sit or kneel and not get dirty is epic.
