THANKS FOR BEING HERE!
My name is Devin, thanks for stopping by!
To put things in simple terms, I love the outdoors, and I love sharing my passion for the outdoors with others.
I come from a background of growing up camping as a family. My dad taught me how to camp and fish as a young boy. Those family camping trips and time spent in the mountains and desert as a young boy cultivated my love for spending time outside.
Around 2018 I developed a desire to learn how to sew, and set off to sew a gathered end hammock. Turns out I loved the process of working with fabric, and taking those raw materials and creating something functional from it all. Over the following years I really grew to love the sewing process, and began designing my own gear, which naturally spilled over into selling my gear when I could get around to getting products made. I spent about three years working in a full production shop helping make ultralight backpacks and accessories. Through that process I learned better processes and designs to create functional and high quality products.
Now I am fortunate enough to make the outdoor industry my career.I graduated with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management from Utah Valley University in 2017, and have worked professionally in the outdoor industry for 20+ years. Previous work has included managing an indoor climbing gym in Salt Lake City, and most recently as the General Manager for Waymark Gear Co.
I also am fortunate to teach Intro To backpacking classes at Utah Valley University where I am able to introduce quality outdoor experiences to students who may not have had the opportunity otherwise.
In the summer of 2023 I decided to take my side passion of content creation for YouTube and make it my full time job. My focus is creating educational videos and gear reviews on camping and backpacking.
Besides my passion for the outdoors, I am a husband and father, with three amazing kids. Teaching my kids to love the outdoors is an important part of our family ethos. There’s something special about watching your kids push themselves and do hard things that only camping, hiking and backpacking can provide.
I hope you find value in what I share, in the simple products I create and that it helps inspire you to get outside and have your own experiences in the backcountry.
